Received defective product

I had ordered 3 lounge wear sets one of which was defected i.e. stiched wrong. I asked them for an exchange but they declined saying items bought in sale are not replaceable. The other 2 dresses were good but they should check their dresses before shipping. Even if we buy the dress in sale, still we as a customer should not receive defective products and even if by mistake we receive it then we should be able to exchange it if it's the sellers fault. I liked the other 2 dresses but won't shop again because there will be a chance of receiving defective product and not being able to replace it.
